Peacemakers forge trust effortlessly.
They have the ability to convey loyalty to everyone while never taking sides. And they can hammer out compromises where no one feels they’ve given up what matters most. When the team is at odds and work is threatening to grind to a halt, a peacemaker can get the team back on track. They can also help the team navigate conflicts with the larger organization.
If this is your superpower:
Make sure that in an effort to keep the peace, you’re not stifling divergent thinking. This is especially true if you work with Provocateurs or Creative Thinkers.
Beware of the 5% of people who will suck up 95% of your energy. Your process works because most people are reasonable. But those who thrive on drama will try to keep the drama going forever.
If you’re working with them:
Don’t waste time trying to uncover what Peacemakers “really think” or secretly trying to sway them to your side. Their strength comes from their neutrality.
Peacemakers aren’t afraid of conflict, so they rarely avoid it. If you’re the kind of person who’d rather stew quietly, be warned that your Peacemaking colleague will probably call you out on it.
